Where to Stay on Koh Lipe & in Pak Bara

Almost every bed in the park is on Koh Lipe. Here is how to choose yours.

Koh Lipe is the only island in Tarutao National Marine Park with private hotels, and it is small enough to walk across in fifteen minutes. The choice is about atmosphere and view more than location: every beach is close to Walking Street.

Pattaya Beach is the busy, central bay where most boats arrive, with the most restaurants and bars. Sunrise Beach is longer, faces Koh Adang and is often calmer in the low season. Sunset Beach and the north end are quieter. On the mainland, Pak Bara has simple hotels for a night before an early boat. For the wild islands, national park bungalows and tents on Koh Tarutao and Koh Adang are booked through the Department of National Parks.

We do not show prices on the cards: Lipe rates change dramatically between high and low season. Every card links to Trip.com for live availability.

How to choose

  • First time, want some life? Pattaya Beach — walk to dinner and back along the sand.
  • Families? A resort with a pool on Pattaya or Sunrise Beach, close to the shallow water.
  • Honeymoon? A hillside villa or a boutique resort on the quieter end of the island.
  • On a budget? Bungalows set back from the beach in the island’s interior cost much less, and the sand is five minutes away.
  • Nature lovers? Add a night or two in a park bungalow on Koh Tarutao or a tent on Koh Adang in the open season.

Booking tips

  • December to February and Thai holidays sell out early. Book two or three months ahead for those dates.
  • Many resorts close or reduce services in the green season; check that yours is open and whether the restaurant is running.
  • Ask how the hotel handles luggage from the boat — some send a porter or a sidecar taxi.
  • “Beachfront” on Lipe can mean a hillside above the beach; check the map before you book.
